When cold transfers are fine
After-hours emergencies where speed beats context. Everything else: warm.
The three failure modes
Caller repeats their story (bad), tech interrupts the brief (worse), or the bridge takes 30+ seconds (worst — caller hangs up).
The measurement
Track close rate for warm vs cold transfers separately for two weeks. If the gap isn't 25+ points, your bridge script is broken, not the concept.
